Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Zoology (Honours) programme provides an in-depth understanding of animal diversity, comparative anatomy, physiology, cell biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, developmental biology, molecular biology, immunology and animal behaviour. The programme integrates theoretical knowledge with laboratory training to develop scientific understanding of the structure, function and evolution of animals.

Through classroom learning, laboratory practicals, field studies, scientific investigations and research-oriented activities, students develop analytical thinking, observation skills, laboratory competence and research aptitude required for careers in biological sciences, wildlife conservation, environmental management, healthcare, biotechnology, education and higher scientific research.

Teaching–Learning Process

The Department of Zoology follows an experiential and research-oriented teaching methodology through classroom lectures, laboratory practicals, field studies, microscopy, demonstrations, seminars and scientific projects. Students develop observation skills, analytical thinking, laboratory competence and research aptitude through biological investigations, field-based learning and experimental studies while adhering to scientific ethics and laboratory safety practices.
