The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (Honours) programme provides students with a scientific understanding of society, social institutions, culture, human relationships and social change. The programme introduces learners to sociological theories and research methods for understanding contemporary social issues and community development.
Through classroom learning, field studies and research-based activities, students develop analytical thinking, communication, problem-solving and social research skills. Graduates are prepared for careers in education, research, civil services, social welfare, community development, NGOs and higher studies in sociology and allied disciplines.

The Department adopts an interactive and learner-centric teaching approach through lectures, tutorials, seminars, field surveys, case studies and research projects. Practical exposure to communities and social institutions enables students to relate sociological theories to real-life social issues and community development.
